What is the best way to acquire knowledge?
Sensory perception only gets you certain types of knowledge. This is what Coke tastes like. This is what a fan feels like on my face. That car is bigger than that other car. To fully grasp this information, we have to know something about it. When we talk about what things taste like, we can’t really define them without knowing more about taste itself, and having labels like bitter, sweet, sour, salty, spicy, etc. To fully understand what a fan feels like on your face, you have to know a little about physics and the environment, so you understand that the fan is blowing actual stuff at you that pelts you in the face. We need some facts in order to interpret sensory stimuli. Then, there are observations like, that car is going really fast. That egg is pretty fragile. If I stick my hand in the fan, it’ll hurt. You can learn these things by somebody telling you, but the best way for you to understand these things is if you come to the conclusion yourself using reason. To know that a car i
