Publish across different fields, think about different types of research outputs for different audiences and consider gaining wider experiences of how research can be used in different contexts (for example, the ESRC offer a placement scheme to provide researchers with experience of working in policy environments and the research council funded Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are a useful way of collaborating with partners in industry or other ‘user’ settings). Consider how best to involve stakeholders in the research team and/or engage stakeholders in ongoing dialogue from the early framing stages onward.
