What is the best way of growing tomatoes?
Tomatoes are easy to grow, but for best results you need to follow a few guidelines. If you are going to plant in the ground you should cultivate the dirt first- dig a hole over a foot wide and remove any big rocks. Break the dirt clumps up and mix in some organic material such as compost. (You can buy a bag a composted manure at Walmart. Mix about 1 part manure in with 4 parts of normal soil.) Plant the tomato deep into the hole and pack around with your rich soil. If you plant a seedling, you want to plant 3/4 of the plant in the dirt and bury it up to the first set of leaves. If your soil doesn’t drain properly then you might add some gravel to the bottom of the hole and then some soil before planting. Tomatoes need lots of sun.
