Quick picks for performance at a high price: Kenmore Elite HE3; LG WM1814C & WM2032H; and Whirlpool Duet. Brand reliability ratings for top loaders found Roper, Frigidaire, and Whirlpool at the top of the list. GE & Kenmore topped the list for front-loaders.
