What is the Best Value Performance Plan?
The Best Value Performance Plan (BVPP) describes the most strategic and politically important areas of the council’s work and explains how they will be improved for the benefit of Northamptonshire citizens. The Best Value Performance Plan is a statutory document which works as a companion to the Council Plan. The Council Plan outlines the key principles that the County Council stands for and identifies what it wants to achieve over the next three years. The Best Value Performance Plan supports the Council Plan by reporting annually on how the council’s services have performed over the past year, and what service levels we aim to achieve in the next three years. The concept of “Best Value” was first introduced by the Government in 1999 to modernise local government and improve local services. It places a duty on councils to work towards continuous improvement. As well as being high quality and cost-effective, Local Services should be responsive to the needs of local people, and be fair and accessible to all who need them. What does it contain?
