What is the best type of queen for me?
The best type of queen depends mainly on your location and preferences. We currently offer Cordovan Italians and New World Carniolans. If you live in a relatively warm climate, Italians are usually the best. They are bred for gentleness, and tend to be mite and disease resistant. Beekeepers living in a colder or snowy climate usually prefer our Carniolans as they lay less brood in the winter, so they winter-over better than Italians. The type of queen you install is up to you, as both of our breeds can survive and thrive in any climate in the USA, as long as they are properly kept.
