Alpacas generally do not challenge fences, so fencing is more to keep things out than in. 4 no climb fence is fine in an area without predators, 5 no climb fence is better to discourage predators. Horse fencing with 4×4 openings is not recommended as the alpacas can get curious and get their heads stuck.
