What is the best treatment for red veins?
Some people have lots of red veins and others have just isolated spider naevii (a vein that looks like a spider, it has a center body and lots of tendrils). The most successful method we have found is Diathermy. A tiny probe is used to cauterise the vein on the surface of the skin. Most people feel this treatment a little and some crusts appear afterwards and last for a week to ten days. This method is still the cheapest and the most direct. IPL for redveins takes longer to achieve the same results and is more expensive. For a Spider Naevii usually one diathermy treatment is sufficient, sometimes clients need a little touch up to finish it off and its recommended to wait one month. Skin tags are also treated quickly and effectively in the same way. Many local GP’s refer their patients to us for redvein and skintag treatments. This treatment is so effective that one month after skin tag removal it’s impossible to see where the tag used to be!
