What Is The Best Treatment For Poison Ivy?
The first and most essential part of treatment is the prompt use of soap and water to wash away the urushiol from the skin. Any clothing, or other items that may have come in contact should also be thoroughly washed. A person with a mild rash requires little or no treatment. You should see your physician if the rash is severe, is on the face or genitals, or covers more than 20% of your body. Antihistamines by mouth, corticosteroid lotions/creams, and depending on the severity and/or location of the rash, oral corticosteroids may be prescribed.
