What is the best treatment for osteoporosis?
The most common medications are in the bisphosphonate class (fosamax, actonel, etc.) Selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) are also used. These include tamoxifen and raloxifene. As for which is best, I don’t think anyone’s ever done a head to head trial of all of the medications. It usually comes down to which is best tolerated by a particular person.
