What is the best tire pressure for 225/40/18?
As I recall the post I saw indicated that higher tire pressures are valid for wider rims and larger diameter rims. That is why I am trying 39/36 this season. So far it seems more comfortable and handling is fine for the commute driving I do with my TT. I have to cross a bridge under seismic retrofit going too and from work. There are steel plates across the lanes in about 1/2 dozen places going to the office and about a dozen places coming home. The higher tire pressures seem to take the bump of the plates better. The speed limit is 45 mph. Generally I am holding to the speed limit when I run over the plates. My rims are 18″ x 8″ and my tires are 225/40×18.
