What is the best time to water my lawn? If I water it in the middle of the day is that bad?
It’s best to water your lawn early in the morning. If you water your lawn in the middle of the day, two things happen: 1) You’re essentially watering the air, as much of the water you put on your lawn will evaporate due to intense sunlight. Watering earlier in the day while the air is cooler and the sun isn’t high in the sky means that your grass gets more of the water. 2) There’s a good chance that you’ll “burn” your lawn. The water droplets that cling to the leaves of grass act as tiny magnifying glasses, focusing the sun’s light into much more powerful beams. This in turn creates brown spots on the grass and makes your lawn less healthy and more nasty looking. You could also water your lawn in the evening, after the sun has started to set and the air temperature is cooler. The problem with this is that excess moisture overnight can lead to fungus and mildew problems. It’s best to stick with early morning. Want to doze instead of getting out of bed to water your lawn?
