What is the best time of year to visit the area?
Each season at Heron Cove brings its own special joys, and Heron Cove may be rented at any time of year. Winter is beautiful, peaceful, and snowy, and guests may skate on nearby ponds, cross-country ski in Acadia National Park, go snowmobiling, or curl up by our gas fireplace with a good book or movie (Heron Cove is fully winterized, with radiant heat under its wood and slate floors). Spring is changeablesometimes as warm as summer, other times foggy and cool, but always a good time to get to know the local residents. Also, watching the leaves and flowers arrive is a miracle on the Maine coast! June, July, and August are ideal, with temperatures in the 70s and the widest range of activities. For Mainers, fall is the best season of all: warm days, cool nights, cobalt skies, blazing foliage, and no crowds! September is rapidly becoming a favorite of returning visitors.
