What is the best thing about showing horses, the worst?
There are two great parts, the friends I have made and the feeling of accomplishment when everything goes well. The worst part is feeling of frustration when everything doesn’t go well. Do you have any pre-show rituals or superstitions? I tell at least three people “good luck” (and mean it!) before my class, then I try to focus on staying relaxed and riding like I would at home. If there was one thing you would like to change about the horse industry, what would it be? It’s not really about changing, it’s about adjusting and supporting. Change is hard, minor adjustments are easier to support. Our industry needs to grow in order to thrive. It is not just AQHA shows that are getting smaller, it is breed shows in general. Finding a way to make horses and horse shows more affordable will be a win-win for everybody ultimately. We love the concept of a one-fee show.
