What is the best tea and coffee making machine for home?
Great question! In our household, I make both tea (from loose tea) and a pot of coffee each day. I have found that using an on demand style of coffee brewer that uses an insulated tank to hold your brew fresh is the best system. Personally, I have a Cuisinart Coffee on Demand and really love it! Hamilton Beach makes one, too. You can see current reviews here: http://www.espresso-and-coffee-makers.co… The reason I like to use this for both tea and coffee is that it is easy to brew small batches or a full pot. And because it uses an insulated tank to hold your tea or coffee, the brew doesn’t sit and turn to mud on a heat pad, like some automatic drip coffee makers have. Clean up is a breeze, too. I have never had an issue with residue from one brew cycle to another.
Many years ago on Saturday Night Live, they did a fake commercial for a product called Mr. Tea (a parody of Mr. Coffee coffee makers). The announcer said to “Just add tea bags and hot water, and Mr. Tea does the rest.” Personally, I like the ones where you put the beans into a large hopper and, when you push a button, it grinds the beans, heats up the water, and brews a pot of coffee, all at the touch of a button. I also like the kinds with a thermal carafe as the pot. The coffee brews and goes into the carafe, so it doesn’t sit on a hot plate to keep warm, which quickly makes the coffee stale.
