What is the best stress management technique you can come up with?
1. Stop avoiding whatever it is you’re avoiding. Act on it immediately. Avoidance equals suffering. 2. In the situation(s) that are causing stress, see if you can identify who you’re not communicating with well. Contact those people and get it handled. 3. Notice your own expectations and preconceptions about the situation — your fixed ideas about how things must go or should go. See if you can let go of those a bit and let things be as they are. 4. Learn to breathe. This sounds silly, but it’s the basis of meditation techniques and stress management techniques. Breathe from your lower abdomen, not your chest. Follow your breath as it comes in and goes out. Pay attention to the simple physical sensation of air in, air out. This is something which is NOT mental, which is always present — something you can focus your attention on. When your attention is on your breath, it becomes easier to see that all those swirling, agitated thoughts are JUST thoughts — “secretions of the mind”. They
