What is the Best Starter Poison Dart Frog?
I would suggest the D. leucomela (aka yellow and black). Yellow Banded Poison Frogs are one of the easiest of the Poison Dart frogs to care for. The habitat should exhibit a tropical rainforest type atmosphere. Dense plants, particularly Vivaria and plenty of branches should be included. The floor should be gravel with soil and sphagnum moss covering most of it.They should be fed a variety of insects such as flightless fruit flies, small crickets, termites, and ants. Their habitat should be kept at roughly 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature should drop to between 70 and 75 degrees at night. Humidity levels should be maintained at about 80%. However, make sure to allow plenty of ventilation. The Green and Black Poison Arrow Frog should be kept in a 50-gallon tank with the ration of two males to three or four females.
