What is the best SENCO tool to use to install 1/4″ plywood underlayment?

Our best, and most popular, tool for 1/4″ floor underlayment is the SKS-L stapler driving the L13BABN staple. (18-gauge, 1/4″ crown, 1″ leg) The code guideline documents do list these staples as an acceptable fastener for the application of underlayment (NER-272). The SKS stapler is favored by the flooring professionals due to its full power and heavier weight. The power is good for driving into harder wood subfloors found in older houses, and the heavy weight makes it easy to bounce-fire at a rapid pace (less muscle, more gravity). Other tools from SENCO to drive the L-series staples for underlayment installation include: SLS25XP-L, SLS18, and the SLS15. These models are lighter weight but will do the job. The SENCO L-type staples are used for many shop and on-site applications.
