What is the best resolution to scan?
This is going to sound like a cop out, but it really depends on what your end purpose is for the scanned image. If you plan on emailing the image or posting it to the web, you should scan at a low resolution. If you want to keep this image for posterity, you will want to scan it at a higher resolution. Unless I have special plans for an image, I scan everything at 300 dpi. I then edit it in a graphics editor depending on the end use. (Remember, I said earlier that I did not like the software that came bundled with my Mustek. This is simply my work-around for the software.) What works for me may not be the best solution for you, but if you are having problems, try different things until you find something that works. Can I scan 3D objects? Certainly!
