What is the best RAID backup system for a computer under $1200 ?”
It really depends on how many computers you need to back up, speed and performance needs, amount of storage needed, etc. The easiest to use that will allow you to backup a network is a terastation from Buffalo. You can get a decent amount of storage that you can network for under a grand. It can be set up in a raid 1 or rid 5 configuration. Dell also has small storage only servers that with the os run between one and two grand. These are surprisingly easy to set up and are great for a network. If you call them and let them know your fixed price point, how much storage you want, and what you need to do they can let you know if it will work for you. If you don’t need to back up multiple computers, the dell nas (storage server) is probably over kill. Stick with the buffalo terastation or one of their smaller but similar setups where you can just plug it in via usb.
