What is the best project management software for shorter-term but fairly task-heavy projects?

I am looking for a PM software with rather simple interface (unlike MS Project that could be for some people too visually complex to follow) to manage shorter-term (2-6 months) but fairly task-heavy projects focused on consulting/marketing; software that can be shared/accessed by multiple users (so preferably web-based); with relatively refined reporting and exporting capability. Thank you very much for your suggestions.
