What is the best product for stripping paint off wood to prepare it for staining?
There is only one, and that is Nitromors as others have said. If you use an old or cheap paintbrush and pour about half an inch into an old glass dish, not plastic it will melt, paint it onto the surface, do about 2 foot at a time, leave it for about ten minutes until it bubbles up. Use a flexible filling knife to strip it from the surface, It will probably take at least two goes, you must keep the blade clean. Put newspapers on the floor for the old paint to drop onto or you will do untold damage. When you have stripped the surface wash it off with walm water and washing up liquid, Scrub it with one of those long handle brushes your wife uses in the sink, throw it away after. Let it dry, a fine glass paper down and dust off with a cotton cloth.Wash off any that gets on your hands ’cause it burns. I do this with furniture I strip for re-polishing. Don’t use any cheep paint remover they won’t work. Good luck!!!!!!!!
