What is the best procedure to follow if I stain a garment?
Most people’s first instinct is to rub a stain with a wet cloth or napkin. Water actually weakens fabric and causes fibers to break, resulting in color loss or water rings. Water and other substances (i.e. stain sticks and club soda) can also set certain stains. This makes stains harder, if not impossible, to remove completely. It is best to blot stains with a dry, clean cloth or napkin and take the item into Starcrest. Our stores are trained in advanced cleaning techniques and have the appropriate tools available to minimize problems like color loss and maximize stain removal.
