What is the best portable HD video camera on the market that can record to SD cards?
The ability for such cameras to record to SD cards directly for video (and not just still shots) is one of the newer technologies being introduced into HD camcorders. One thing to remember when you are shopping is to make sure that if the camera has an SD slot that it has the ability to record video directly to it — a lot of cameras advertise a SD slot but are only able to record STILL image shots to it. Canon has just introduced the HF100 and HF10 to the market. These are exclusively solid state camcorders in that they record directly to SDHC cards; the HF10 als can record to a built-in 16GB of flash RAM. These cameras don’t come cheap, but they are compact since they don’t have to have room for the miniDV tape drives that typically come on camcorders.
