What Is The Best Pony Breed For Beginners?
Ponies aren’t really for beginners at all unless trained well by an experienced rider. The best beginner horse over all is a Quarter Horse, but for ponies, maybe a Welsh. If you are thinking about buying a pony for a child, make sure that you know someone that would train it for you every now and then. P.S. The picture is of a Welsh X pony. He is very smart, but can still have that pony additude. Your best bet would be to get a QH or QH/Pony. Our POA pony was an awesome lesson horse for kids, but when an experienced rider wasn’t there to train her when she started to act up, she would be bad for anyone that rode her. So basically, ponies are great when they know their place, but if they can get away with something once, they’ll keep doing it, and start trying even worse things.
