What is the best place to see Sunset? Sunrise?
The Visitor Center will send you up to Airport Mesa to see the Sunset. It’s the highest paved driving point in Sedona. While you do have spectacular views of the red rocks and the entire city, it can get pretty crowded up there, which is not exactly the environment one wants for sunset. Undoubtedly, a place called Mystic Vista is ideal for sunset. As the name implies, it’s magical up there and your have 360 degree views of the red rocks. It’s on the west side of town so you see both the sun setting and the color changes on the red rocks themselves. It requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get there. My new favorite Sunset place is the first overlook off 152C. You find this by taking Drive Creek Road a couple miles and turn right onto a dirt road that takes you out to the Devil’s Bridge hike.
