In general, don’t buy from anyone that solicits you, such as Littleton Coins. Their prices are way too high. If your goal is to have the coins increase in value, eBay is the easiest and best way to get a good deal. When buying from eBay, only buy third-party graded coins in sealed containers. PCGS and NGC are the two most reputable graders. If the coin was graded by another company, I would usually dicount the price by one grade. If your goal is to give interesting coins as gifts, buy them directly from the U.S. Mint. A coin shop near you is a good place to get started and see the wide variety of coins available.
