What is the best option for safety glass – toughened or laminated?

Both toughened and laminated glass are forms of safety glass but vary in amounts of cost and performance. People assume toughened glass is some kind of extra strong glass but we like to think of it as ‘break safely glass’. Yes, toughened glass is quite difficult to break but not impossible. When it does break it will break into very small sections, which should eliminate scracthes or minor cuts and will not pose the dangers created by large shards when standard float glass breaks. Toughened glass is the most widely used and comes in thickness of 4mm. Laminated glass is the more expensive option and at 6.4mm it’s also thicker and offer’s better insulation values. However, this thickness also means a heavier product, which in turn increase’s the ‘wear and tear’ on your opening windows and doors.
