What is the best method of determining the weight of my horse?
Knowing an accurate bodyweight of your horse will assist you when administering your worming dose. It also is important to be aware of his weight to be able to accurately dose other medications and for towing restrictions. This can be achieved in one of the following ways :- 1. A commercially available girth weight tape will give an indicative body weight. 2. The following formula has been proven to be quite accurate in horses under 15 hands. Then re-weigh the empty float. Simply subtract the difference and that is the weight of your horse.
