What is the best method for removing white house paint from exterior bricks?
OK, this sounds totally ridiculous, but I assure you it’s not. With careful use, a sandblaster is THE fastest AND best way to do this. You have to use the right medium or you can scour the brick too hard – fortunately, they sell a variety, and for paint removal, crushed walnut hulls is just about perfect. You’ll be amazed at how fast it goes. See, the problem with other solutions is they don’t get into the cracks and holes in the bricks and mortar. The sandblasting solution solves that, and believe it or not, it’s actually much friendlier to the brick. Other solutions would require you to take off a lot of brick face to get everything completely removed, but the grains of the blasting medium (technical term for, ah, sand) can penetrate even tiny holes and get all the paint right out.
