What is the best method for potty training a puppy with overnight accidents?
I had a problem with the crate training myself. It takes some practice and some getting use to. Just be sure your pup’s crate isn’t too big. If it’s too big, your puppy will just pee in the corner and stay at the other end till you clean it up. My puppy’s crate was actually too big for her. I made due by putting empty bowls at one end and leaving her space to sleep at the other. I too had to wake up early to take my puppy out for a quick potty break. I’d put her up to sleep around 9pm, and I’d find myself waking back up around 1am to take her out, and again when I’d get up in the morning. You may have to do this for some time before your pup gets old enough to hold it. Also, I started crate training when my puppy was at 9 weeks. She’s now 7 months old and can hold it through the night. It won’t take long for them to be able to hold it. I promise, they jsut have to get a litttle bit older. Crate training does work though. Trust me. It works WONDERS!
She might possible be alittle too young to be able to hold it overnight. You could try putting a puppy pad in there with her. At least when she does have an accident maybe she will use the pads. I know they helped me tremendously when I was potty training my toy poodle. I would ease the puppy pad closer to the front door every other day and eventually I sat it outside for acouple days and then got rid of it completely. By the time I had done all of this my poodle knew that when he had to use the bathroom all he had to do is go stand by the door and we would let him out to pee. Hope this helps!
