What is the best lens (focal length) to shoot a chrome ball?
The farther away physically that you are the better because it helps to reduce your reflection in the ball. A zoom lens (i.e.: 70-300mm) is very helpful for these situations. However, there are times where a long telephoto will not help you because you are in a small room. In this case, use the longest focal length you can without cropping into the image of the ball in your viewfinder or viewing screen.
