What is the best Hot Wheels® casting of all time?
It’s difficult to choose. The GT-40 was very nice; the late-model Corvettes are always a treat; any new regular-issue open-wheel racer gives me chills. But if I had to select one that meant the most to me, it would have to be the 1969 Splittin’ Image. It was the coolest thing ever seen at Northridge Public School, and the only gold one sighted was owned by Bob Hurst. Compared to his gold Splittin’, my Boss Hoss Silver Special – the first of *those* ever sighted at Northridge – made me look like a wet dog and smell not much better. Specifically, what lines, scales, etc. do you collect? 1/64th exclusively, and 98% regular issues. I only buy select 1/18 scales related to personal memories, e.g. the Cadillac Northstar LMP, to commemorate the first Le Mans I ever saw flag-to-flag on (then) Speedvision. I began collecting again when I tried to recapture a bit of my youth by buying a Street Eaters series Silhouette II which I used as a desk decoration. The Cord, a favorite of mine from school
