What is the best *healthy* Indian restaurant in NYC?
…if you stick to vegetarian selections and tandoori chicken (lovely skinless chicken marinated in yoghurt and spices and baked in a special oven) you will get lots of fiber, vitamins and protein. You will get relatively little fat if you avoid the fried goodies. Also, raita and lhassi will give you calcium and vitamin D from the yoghurt. You might also choose fruit for dessert. Some specific recommendations: You could try Chennai Garden in Murray Hill. Their South Indian dishes are delicious yet fairly healthy, and very inexpensive. Recommended: saag paneer. Not much decor so it’s best for more casual outings.
