I own 3 mystery snails (pomacea bridgesii), but no live plants as of yet to observe their behaviours with them. They do truly eat every scrap of food left in the tank which is a good thing. From what I know if they are well fed, they won’t bother with the plants. They may eat dead or dying leaves that would end up being pruned any ways, but if you don’t feed them they may devour a certain species of plant they can stomach. To keep them well fed consider algae wafers, lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini, de-shelled green peas and carrots. All veggies being previously par-boiled of course. EDIT: Trkbuilderman, why are you giving out terrible information? You supposedly have 40 years of experience with fish so you have no idea what to say about snails. Snails are great for a home aquarium, but just like fish, when you get new ones, you QUARANTINE them to make sure no disease spreads to the main tank.
