What is the best freeware game on the internet today?
Many would consider nethack to be “the greatest” free game available on the internet. It’s been around almost forever, and comes in different visual flavors, ASCII graphics, 2D, and a slightly more up-to-date isometric view. It’s you classic dungeon-hack adventure, plenty of classes, silly items and monsters, and tons of levels to explore. It is also extremely unforgiving. www.nethack.org or check wikipedia for different versions (2D etc). Lately though an old classic, Conquest of Elysium 2, is my favorite free game. It’s a fantasy TBS game in a similar vein to MoM or Dominions. It’s been re-realeased for free by its publisher.
