While .WAV files are good quality linear audio files, they can not be played by a CD audio player – even though they do load on to a disc. The disc with a .WAV file on it is a data disc, and needs to be loaded on to a computer and played by an audio software program. Our production experts suggest that you send out .MP3 files; they have been the standard in the broadcast business for the past 5 years. Granted, if you are an audio freak, this is not the best quality. But AM and FM radio are also not digital quality. You may run in to problems with the .wav file plan, whereas with the MP3 file format most stations can use them with no problem.
