What is the best feed and weed for lawns?
It depends on the type of lawn that you have. If you have a northern lawn then the active weed ingredient herbicide is 2-4D. If you have a southern lawn like Centipede or St Augustine then the herbicide you would need is Atrazine. As for the brand of weed and feed, Lesco and Scotts are probably two that I would stick with. Always read the labels and see what grass types the weed and feed is used for, and follow the instructions for the rate at which to apply it. Sometimes it is a good idea to put out half the rate first, then wait two weeks and put out the second half. By doing this your lawn will be fed twice without over fertilizing and the rains will not wash all of the nutrients away. It will also aid in killing the weeds that were not killed in the first application. Good luck.
