What is the best engine oil to use when driving around the word?
Another difficult question, but a very important one to ask! Oil is essential for the survival of the engine for the punishing 80,000+ km we’ll be driving. There is a great article online which explains all anyone could possibly need to know about engine oil: http://www.carbibles.com/engineoil_bible.html We’ll be looking for some 5W40 Fully-Synthetic engine oil for the cold weather countries, and 20W50 Semi-Synthetic engine oil for everywhere else. In total we predict we are going to need 50 litres of engine oil (based on doing an oil change every 8,000km (5,000 miles)).
