It has a primer on one end to really thicken and build your lashes, while the mascara side will give you volume, length, and curl. I love all of the XXL mascaras by Maybelline because they give you better results than mascaras that cost double to triple the price at department stores. Even Michelle Phan was using this in one of her videos and said it was one of her favorite mascaras. I noticed that it made her sparse, thin lashes look alot fuller.
