What is the best drain cleaner?
You can buy chemical drain cleaner but bear in mind these chemicals are very harsh, dangerous & harmful to the environment. I just cleaned mine recently by getting my garden hose, pushing it through the window of each room that had drains (kitchen, bathroom & laundry), turned the hose on full blast down the plughole & let it run down the drain for up to 5 minutes. A plumber said he cleans his drains this way & it works. Then do the same in the actual drain outside. It’s pretty much waterblasting everything clean.
Zebra is correct in that drain cleaners aren’t good for your drains. Take the p-traps off and clean those out with an old toothbrush and comet or ajax. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=… Running the water hose through them after the traps are clean is a great idea!
