What is the best disinfectant for mange?
I fostered dogs for the humane society, and hosted a couple with sarcoptic mange. I confined the dog to the kitchen (because it was one of the few areas of my house without carpet), and kept 10% bleach solution on hand. I also used a flea product with permathin (do not use if you have cats) on the carpets and surrounding area. It’s tough. I know I felt like I was itching all the time, and was paranoid about the mange spreading anywhere. It went away in all cases, but you’ve got to be dilligent. Keep the dog away from sleeping areas, bed sheets and pillow cases, etc. and keep using the bleach to clean the area where the dog will camp out. Give the dog some old sheets to sleep on while he’s confined- and dispose of them when it starts to clear up. Good Luck…
