What is the best defense against Japanese beetles?

We have HUGE problems with them here in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I suggest that you fill a spray bottle with 1 tsp Dawn dishwashing detergent and water. Then, spray the plant(s) you wish to protect every few weeks. It keeps the beetles from being able to latch on and eat. I do it all the time and have no problems at all. You can also purchase pheromone bags at Wal-Mart, HOWEVER do NOT place them anywhere NEAR the plants you wish to protect, otherwise you just draw the beetles toward the plants and they devour them. I prefer Dawn and water.
