What is the best computer to record music?
I’d recommend an Apple (MacBook Pro or Mac Pro). If you’re looking for something that will take a single line in from a mixing board, and just using the computer to record, I find that Quicktime Pro does that very nicely. I’ve used it in this configuration with the optical digital input as well as a line-in. If you’re looking at doing the mixing on the computer, Logic Pro is an excellent software package for mixing; if it’s too expensive, the Apple iLife suite includes an application called GarageBand which is very easy to use. GarageBand exports easily to iTunes, which then supports burning onto CD.
