I know just how you feel! I’m hopeless at choosing colours. The nice thing about paint is that if you do choose a colour you find you hate, you can change it! I’ve got a very pale purple at the moment – sounds awful, but it’s actually very soothing. I have learned to start with ‘light’ colours (if your not sure what you like). It’s a LOT easier to paint over light colours, than it is to change dark colours to a lighter one. The room I’m in was deep, deep blue. I’m sure the previous owners loved it, but to me it was like going into a very dark corridor!!!! It took 2 coats of undercoat and 2 coats of the pale purple to get rid of the ghastly blue. Now, the room looks twice the size and is light and airy. I love it. Look at the way people in magazines and on tv have decorated their rooms to get an idea of colours you would like, then go to a DIY paint place and get a load of colour cards (the paint section usually give them out free and they’re BRILLIANT for selecting colours).
