What is the best city in Norway to work and live as a welder?
The best pay will be offshore or onshore shift work, if you’re willing to do this. It usually means 28 or 14 days on (12+ hour days), often living at a work camp, followed by 14 days off living at home. I used to work at Mongstad, a large Statoil refinery 1.5 hours north of Bergen on the west coast. There are several other refineries in the area (Kollsnes is another), meaning that you can live in Bergen (or wherever you want) during your off days, and live on camp while you work. Statoil hires directly, or does subcontracting through companies like Fabricom.
