What is the best Brunch in Los Angeles,California?
We went while visiting some friends of ours in LA who are regulars. The recess time pancakes are awesome! If you like the crumble struesel stuff on top of coffee cakes and apple pies then you will love them. I got the bubba something french toast that was supposed to be peanut buttery but it was not at all and basically tasted like cinamon toast crunch on top of regular french toast. My husband ordered the recess time (1 pancake) and I ended up eating his more than mine. We also ordered the Chicago Scramble to share which was very good (eggs mixed with sausage, peppers, and bacon). Between the half order of french toast, pancakes and the scramble we had WAY too much food and were stuffed. The coffe is wonderful and they serve it in your own french press. Our friends split the chili chese fries which were like none I’d ever seen. You can choose your toppings and they had pepers and stuff and I had one and it was great. We were able to get a table outside right away (not as busy during t
I’m a pig. A big, fat pig. I am also quite full.Had dinner tonight (Wednesday) with friend M.D. (Mister MD)We had previously enjoyed a quite pricey meal at Street and wanted a less expensive affair. We managed to decrease the bill by $10 bucks each. It’s a start!Lucky Devil’s is another in the line of upscale burger joints. And I feel the need to try each and every one of them. It’s my patriotic duty, for Pete’s sake! The crowd here is 75% hungry male, 20% dorky tourist (it’s located blocks from Mann’s Chinese Theater) and 5% Miscellaneous (us).Discovering there was a variety of things on the menu besides burgers, we finally were able to narrow it down to the following:1. Kobe Bacon Blue Burger with Fire Slaw2. Sweet Potato Fries3. Sopressata Flatbread Pizza4. 2 imported beersI, personally, feel we devoured the best of this place. Here’s a brief synopsis:1. Burger patty was very thick, expertly cooked. Not as soggy as Kobe beef can be. The brioche bun did NOT fall a
This place is a very sweet neighborhood cafe full of regulars, and a youthful, casual, and friendly wait staff. They offer all kinds of different wraps, sandwiches, and omelettes. On the weekends there’s usually a wait, but it’s worth it. If you’re there on a day when they are offering the lentil soup, consider yourself lucky. The lentil soup is the best lentil I have ever had, it’s very fresh and healthy and yummy. Other favorites of mine are the turkey burger, New Times Club (with generous slices of turkey breast, avocado, and swiss), the ahi tacos, and their red cole slaw! Also, they have the best hot chai in town, and when its hot out, ask for the Orange Cream Dream drink. It’s like a creamsicle! Highly reccommended.Pros + tasty, casual, organicCons – weekend wait, parking
This was a delightful treasure located in the midst of a somewhat dodgy area right behind the Church of Scientology – but once you step into the cute little space and then into the enclosed back patio, you are transported into a calming haven where you can while away the morning or afternoon with your friends and family. The food is pretty straightforward, fresh and good – nothing complicated. My friends had a yummy looking omelette and a breakfast sandwich with potato salad (quite yummy). I had a puree of celery root soup with apples (very appropos for the holidays – sweet, light and homey) and a grilled cheese sandwich (with gruyere and cheddar)(good). I also had a refreshing morrocan ice tea (yum!). The entire experience was great – from the good food, the friendly competent service, the relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely return here to try their other offerings.Pros + Great Vibe, Delicious Fresh FoodsCons – Parking can be tough
my boyfriend and i started going here for breakfast in april of 00, when we had just arrived home from london, where we had the most delicious lemon crepes at a dutch restaurant there, and we were already longing for them. so we sought out a crepe restaurant here in la. though these do not resemble the expansive, mega-thin, sparse (yet delicious) crepes in london, these suffice. i LOVE their smoked salmon crepe. the coffee’s always swell. we usually dive for the counter seats, which means being waited on and no long lines (though, of course, a tip is then required). we realize it’s not “très authentique” but we’re also not snotty. yes, it’s filipino-owned and run, but so what? it’s good food if you can get over your uptightness over how “nationalistic” your meal is. (and i agree, the people-watching is prime here!)Pros + good value, great people-watching, boden-brewed coffeeCons – crowded
