An ASIO driver offers improved timing management, a key issue for synchronized playback and record. An ASIO2 compliant driver also offers direct monitoring that reduces input to output delay when recording. On the Mac platform it offers as well 24-bit support, which is not possible when using the Sound Manager interface. For these reasons, Digigram highly recommends using the ASIO2 driver when possible.
