An ASIO driver offers improved timing management which is a key issue when requiring synchronized playback and record. An ASIO 2 compliant driver also offers direct monitoring which reduces input to output delay when recording. On the Mac platform it also offers 24 bit support which is not possible when using the Sound Manager interface. For these reasons, Digigram highly recommends the use of an ASIO driver when possible.
