What is the benefit of the OpenDocument (ODF) file format in StarOffice 9 Software?
The OpenDocument (ODF) file format is standardized by the ISO/IEC and OASIS standardization organization. The format specification is fully published so customers have control of their files and intellectual property. XML allows for increased compatibility, as any XML-enabled application can read and modify the content of any OpenDocument document. ODF files are also smaller than a traditional Microsoft Office document because the ODF file format uses Industry Standard compression.
